Been out in the car tonight, i just need to put new O ring in the 5th and i can use my high boost again then off for another setup to make sure things are still tip top.
![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
However i can see at some point it could probably do with a wee resto, theres a patch of rust in the bay on the inner wing, the floorpans have a bit of corrosion but the sills look a bit tired up front, someone at some point obviously didnt know how to use a jack. All is still solid right enough but if its not seen to i reckon it might get hairy.
Smits gimme the weekend and ill get some pics to you of the pro alloy gear, dont think you can see the mods they did to stop them rubbing though

That rust on the inner wings is so common, caused because they have no arch liners and the water works it way into the seam
bet the floor pans are going along the joins aswell yea?
You say someone doesn't know how to use a jack, YOU MEAN they son't know how to jack a car up!! Anyone that puts a trolley jack to a sill needs a good fucking hiding IMO

yea i know the feeling mate
Personally i wouldn't even entertain welding a car, once its rotten then i'd rather pass it on you'll never beat it you are forever chasing it, and its never the same as a car thats welded in the factory.
Surely yours can't be anything significant though? Looks to be a really tidy motor from all i've seen of it, and to be fair i'm actually surprised its got rust on it!
A waxoyl kit will be your best friend at the moment........

Its not bad andy its could just do with the sills sorted as their a bit crushed
However the car IS solid with only bits of surface here and there, think ill look into the waxoyl

So I think in the long term, almost every mk3/4 escort enthusiast will come to the point where the welder has to come out. Apart from those who have bought a rot-free one years ago and put loads of waxoil in it.
And well, I wouldn't say that having a welded car is bad. In the factory they were built down to a price. If you do it yourself, you can build it to last.

There is one rust hole on the car, and thats where the wing meets the slam panel so i could easily bung a new wing on there

You lucky git!
Well, I can only speak from my experience. I've lifted the carpets of four Mk4 Escorts in the last 6 months and all of them had serious rust problems. I even posted pictures up here from one of them but that was by far the best. All of them didn't really look bad from the outside. 3 of them were RSTs and what can I say: Taking the bodykits off was a bit devastating for me...
HOWEVER: Cabbie's seem to be a lot better in general. I think that's mainly because they haven't been built by Ford at Saarlouis but at "Karmann" in Osnabrück. And maybe some of them weren't used during winter.

Anyways, congrats to Lucid! All I wanted to say is: Most of the RST owners have to fight against the dreaded tinworm constantly. Part of the game...
