Default Relacing the cam seal (S1)

Any tips on how to get it done easily?

BTW i know nothing about changing the seal

It's bringing back memories of my RS days & also reminding me of why i converted to jap cars

you converted to jap because you couldn't handle the almighty power of the RS's

Its an easy job really, loosen the cam pulley bolt, slacken off the cam belt tensioner, remove the belt, pry out the old seal with a screwdriver carefully.

Refitting it will be tricky as you need something big enough to fit over the end of the cam but still small enough to push the seal fully home. I had a right mare doing one years ago, then my mate had the best idea, i don't know quite where the inspiration came from, but a T2 compressor housing was the perfect size

No i converted to jap because after having loads of Rs turbo's, 3 door & saph cossies, esc cos's i realised that there was a pattern emerging - it was flashing amber lights on the AA truck

Did you use the T2 housing to put around the seal & then tap into place?

they aren't that unreliable

yea thats what we ended up using, used to to push against the seal and drive it in the head..........lol
