Hi guys, whats the difference between the starter motor on the RST and a normal 1600 CVH starter? i have just fitted a new TT stage 2 turbo on my RS and the oil return now fouls the solenoid on mine

Is it me or does that solenoid look like its at around 45 degrees to the horizontal. I.e sitting higher up on the starter.

This is what mine looks like. Take no notice to the length cuz its a cossy one but the solinoid its exactly 90 degrees to the vertical.

Interesting Ive been told the starter motor on the RST is smaller or same as the base model 1.1/1.3 because of the lower compression?

RST starters are FOOKIN massive

That solenoid does look in a bit of a dodgy position, but people in the know run smaller starters anyway, RSt's are low compression so its easier to crank over the a N/A engine

Guess its gonna be a trip down the scrappys for a starter motor then

Am gutted cos i trimmed the oil return pipe down for the old turbo, and now it dont fit

My starter is off a 1990 1.4 Mk5 Escort, just for example

what pipe have you trimmed down?

Its the L shaped return pipe i got from Roose motorsport, i assume that because my new turbo has a larger compressor housing the oil return is situated further out
