rs turbo problem

Default rs turbo problem

hi there, ive just got a black rs turbo, i got it from luton and drove all the way back to portsmouth, it fel lumpy all the way, putting my foot down and it not budging, i took it to my uncles garage and turned engine off, went to turn it back on and it doesnt want to start, its got 1/4 tank of petrol so it aint low on that,
any 1 got sum ideas,
it is fireing, but doesnt start, just constant raging the battery not starting up

it was an xr3i but with a rs turbo conversion, maybe 1 bit is still xr3i if u get me,
help me plzzzz

just tried starting it again, even though the battery was charging as soon as i take it off charge and start it , it goes quickly to being dead.
wants to start then cuts out again

Check if the fuel relay (located in driver's footwell on lhd cars, I assume it's the same on rhd?) is working! To see whether the fuel pump is OK you can unplug the relay and replace it with a piece of wire. Should make the pump prime all the time when ignition is switched on.

Another thing you can try: Remove the air box and gently press down the metering flap while someone else is starting the car.

does the guage say its got 1.4 tank or have u actually put 1/4 tanks worth in there?
just checking as the guages can read 1/4 tank and the tank be empty if the sender unit it fualty- just worth a check

Have you checked to makesure your getting a good spark and can you here the fuel pump when you first turn the key buzz??

yea it does make a buzzing sound , then when i turn the key it seems to do it again coz when it cuts out the buzz fades out if u get me,

ive got a new fuel metering unit coming so i have that does the job, ive been told to change the ignition coil, and to take the distributor cap off and put some petrol init,

is this gna make my car work

I wouldn't it's likely to catch fire

Have you checked to see if your getting a spark to the plugs???

Antony he means use petrol to wash oil out.

brake cleaner/contact cleaner would be better to use.

As for the fault.......being as its a conversion this could be a potential nightmare, i wouldnt know where to being helping you

First time ive ever heard of using petrol you should be able to just wipe it off with a cloth if you cant then i would bin it and buy a new one for what they cost

Id start checking the easy things like if your getting a spark then move on to check if theres fuel getting through if you have a spark.

what system is it on is it MFI or EFI when it cuts out does it start or does it jus go to ground and not even tick over do all usual changes 1st ie spark plugs ht leads dissy is it uses one oil etc then we can rule out these
