Default Turbo upgrade...

...just wanted to know what turbo's can be fitted to the stock manifold as an upgrade? ie:T28

Or if you need adpters to fit bigger turbo's?

Can the stock metering head put out enough fuel to run a uprated turbo?

Do i need to uprate internal engine parts?

Any info is appreciated!

Your questions are too vague mate...

You can fit any turbo with a T3 flange on to the standard manifold, this doesn't mean you are limited to the T3 range, you can get a GT28 made (for example) with a T3 flange.

As for the metering unit... Well, the whole fuel system is very primative. For best results ditch the lot and go for a god EFi set up. The metering unit can supply as much fuel as you need but at the cost of fuel economy and the further you push it the more the fuelling will be out in the lower parts of the rev range to make it safe up top.

Do you need uprated internal engine parts? You tell us. How much power do you want?

Conrods are the weakest thing on a CVH in terms of strength, but the head is also a big restriction. Cam and turbo choice depend on many things. Pistons are ok to circa 300bhp. If you want to push Mahles this far then be my guest, but for peace of mind I would use a proper forged one if I wanted to go far beyond this. Also when you quote bhp figures it depends where you take your car to be tested. 300bhp on a DD RR is way more than somewhere that isn't lol.

Give us some more info and I'll try to help you some more, but you can go on and on shouting numbers that might not interest you. Of course, I am talking about the 1600 CVH too when I typed the above.

Thanks for the info!

What i'm wanting is to run as much power as i can without changing things like pistons and con rods (too expesive!)

Currently i'm running 14psi from a standard T3, -31 actuator, Standard engine, Scorpion exhaust, K&N induction, and i have a Radtec front mounted intercooler with twin Spal fans coming any day.

I dont want to change cams (other than for a new stock cam) because I dont want any less power pre boost.
So i thought about a bigger turbo, again if the engine cannot take any more than what a T3 can produce then there is no point but if it can then maybe i'll do that.

well if you want to run more boost safely, you would need to lower the compression by means of pistons ect, but thers no point running stupidly high boost if your head cannot manage the emount of air and fuel its delivering, hence changing to efi, and fitting high lift cams, port and polish, bigger valves the list goes on

also there are loads of cams to choose from, im sure you can find one to suit your requirements, lots of the mild cams are good from early on in the rev range so your not losing anything pre boost
