dodgy petrol reading
i got a 88 spec rs turbo, the problem is when i accelerate my petrol gauge starts to go down on the gauge but when i stop (at a set of lights for example) it goes back to the normal reading , would this be the sender unit or is it time to replace my clocks ,

theres no sensors its a manual float in the tank lol was like that with all my escorts wen you take off the fuel gose all the way to the back of the tank making the float changes height and giving a lower reading you will see if you park the car on a tilt front down and the fuel will show more then whats in there its just ford pathetic float system

On my first car when i changed it from poverty spec clocks to a set with a rev counter i wasn't aware the senders in the tank varied, so once you got below half a tank if you went left apparently i had NO fuel, and if you went right i had near on a full tank
So think yourself lucky, i had to fill up based on mileage

JamboRST, well......when i first started usin the car, i was puttin a Ł5 in every 50 miles, and it took me fuckin weeks to work out why i could smell petrol, turns out it was A LOT better on fuel than that and i was running round with a full tank the whole time and it was sloshing out the cap on corners
but it used to do 65 miles on Ł5 ramping round town, even better on long runs
vroooom ptssssh, keep wishin mate, when i put the cabby on the road the sender didnt work and i ran out of petrol every day for the first 10 days
I think this compensated for the above by doing 50 miles on a tenner
