Default S1 Owners With....

The ORIGINAL mk3 Escort inner wing washer bottle.

I'm talking about the one thats about the size of a small ice cream tub and NOT the one that is bolted in the wheel arch.

Any chance of some pictures of please? I need to see where the level sensor is and how its secured onto the tank.

Cheers

I have a clear arch one with level sensor hole im sure, its had a small repair where someones drilled through the front wing to dril out the rivet for an S1 arch, but holds water perfect!

On my car (s1) ive got the black series 1 washer bottle.

Sorry to say you're wrong there, or at least not UK spec anyway. The early XR3's and Mk3's have the bottle mounted underneath the strut being as they are carbed, later ones & Mk1 Orions are all mounted on the inner wing.

Series 1's are the only ones with the large ones, and possibly the RS1600i's

vroooom ptssssh, only 90 spec ones are oval, early Mk4 ones have round tops.

Well then it's different over on the foggy island. Being the owner of a -84 xr3i and ex owner of a -85 1.6i Orion, both had the large one inside the wing with one sensor and low+high pressure pumps.

That said though there is some considerable differences across, the ranges, the norweigan models came with heated seats i do believe - i'd love to get hold of a pair of them

The high pressure pump is for the head lamp washers, which you don't obviously have with the lesser UK versions

The heated seats also came with most models for the exception of the ones with Recaro seats. So, the S1 never had these.

Not too syre if the UK ones had headlamp washers as an option of whether it was unobtainable here, but again i'd like to get my hands on some I didn't realise they used a seperate pump i was under the impress there was a valve which stopped the washer fluid circulating when the headlamps werent on As i see the spare plug hanging down by the bulk head which connects to the empty headlamp washer relay socket.

You find me some heated seats and ill swap you my mk3 Electric/Heated mirrors

You mean like in your picture or like the S2 'in the arch' bottle? The mk3 3i's had them as well, in fact i think the whole mk3 range had them - Orions and Escorts.

I have managed to get a brand new in the bag unused, virgin state like washer bottle.

The car had one originally which is prob in the garage somewhere, but i need to know how the level indicator fits in the hole?

Does it screw in or push in??

I just hope that i still have the original one as the sensor was still on it

I had to remove it when the turbo lump when it as the fuel filter sits where it used to sit

Mine is the same as EVERY Mk3 Escort & Mk1 Orion ive ever laid eyes on and ive seen a fair few of them i can tell you, hence why i have no less than 20 of those level sensors spare

S1's are the only Mk3's in the UK to have the in arch bottles, possibly cars with headlamp washers too but they have got to be rarer than rrocking horse shit.

The sensor just pushes into the rubber bung.

The fuel filter is a problem hence why i mounted mine where it is, its getting a Mk4 washer bottle now though im sick of filling it up
