Default Buying an S2

Alright this is my first post so is every one alright?!

Im going to look at an S2 on friday and just wondering if any one knows of it at all?

This is the link http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/150620.htm

Do you think it looks ok? iv set my self a limit of £3500, so this one fits that nicely with a little but to spend on it if i need to.

Iv done a hpi check and its had 5 owners, that too many or doesnt it really matter?

Thanks in advance, selby.

hi there and welcome to passion ford for a start, that looks a very nice example and seeing it hasnt being played with will most likely be in your favor, remember to nagotiate a price u can always go up but if u say too much they obviously wont go down, check out the battery and fuse box trays and check the underside for sills being rotted, lift the carpet in the boot and check for rust or corrosion there, feel under the arches for rust also, these are all common spots, also check over the roof for spots coming through as this is normally the sunroof rustin underneath, do obvious general checks like condition of oil and the suspension movement, hope all goes well for you

Cheers yeah i wil check all those, i went to look at one last year which was up for 3650, drove all the way from nottingham to london and it turned out to be rusty as hell! no wonder its still for sale now.

Cheers for the adive, if i like this one i am hoping to get him down to about 2500 but not sure how much he will want to move on his price.

thanks for the welcome any way

The advert states :-
Engine has not been modified in any way
However its running a dump valve, im pretty certain they never came with these fitted, which simply means the statement is not correct

Its not exactly a lot of effort to remove a chip or replace a ecu ( if a chip has never been fitted the ECU should be sealed I believe )

I personally think its unlikely that someone would fit uprated shocks, 17 inch alloys a dump valve, performance exhaust, bonnet lifters and not at least consider fitting a chip....

if its seems to good to be true, it usually is

Im changing my mind faster than any thing on these cars lol, iv seen another which might go at the link is
Its the one at the bottom for £4200, on the phone he said i could have it for £3500 cash, which seems a fair deali think going by the photos.. and its totally standard!

Only thing i did notice on it is on one side the wheels go one way and on the other they go the other way..... is this correct like he tells me, because iv got a feeling it aint! Cheers.

edited due to link iof my postcode lol

Mate, best advice I would give is: Flatter,Beg, Kidnap, butter up.......

basically do what ever it takes ( probably best to draw the line at sexual favours) to get someone who knows RST' inside-out to have a butchers before buying.

Sooooo easy to buy what seems a minter, but turns out to be a munter
