Default safe boost levels on stock and uprated engines!

right, i need a bit of help. i have read everywhere that stock 1.6RST engines (s2's) run at 7psi. how far can the boost be turned up safly on a stock engine.

what i have is

~T3 stage 3 hybrid BB turbo
~ - 31 Actuator
~Kent CVH25 cam
~Piper cams vernier pulley
~Stage 3 port and polish head
~Stage 3 Ecu with hearts and diamonds chip
~Denso iridium Spark plugs
~Full S/S scorpion exhaust system 3" from manifold
~Scorpion 4" rolled back box to go with system above
~Samco boost hoses and inter cooler pipes
~Polished charge carrier
~k&n Air filter

the engine has been fully rebuilt. it is pretty much a fresh engine. now what could i turn the boost up to (psi) safly. i have been told that 8psi is too high! but im sure that 8psi can be run on a complety stock engine!

also how do you turn up boost? i have an internal wastegate, so how do i got about turning up the boost, or shall i leave that to pros?

leave it to a pro but you can run about a bar (14psi) on a standard engine+intercooler

and about 18psi with a full front mount intercooler

A Scorpion with a 3" bore, are you sure? If it is that is costing you power at your power level.

Is a Kent 25 even for a turbo CVH?

Basically your spec is good but you are lacking a decent intercooler. That is the biggest thing stopping you from upping the boost. Fit something like a GRS and you could run around 20psi. Shame it is standard compression otherwise you could go a bit further.

really if i it is 3" its costing me power? how much? im pretty sure it is 3", the previous owner had it bought and installed by a pro aparrently... maybe the ecu is giving enough fuel and air for that particular size?

you say 14psi can be run on a stock engine, but is it safe?? if i ran 14psi on mine, with the specs i have, and if i bought a nice full front mount intercooler would i be ok? or would the time of the engine be limited until it blows?

it depends if u drive it like a cunt and thrash it every time u take it out. service her regurly and get a decent tune up, 14psi should be fine

I used to drive mine like a cu*t when it was in that state of tune ALL THE TIME (used to get people shaking their fists at me) but all it used to break was gearboxes and wear tyres out double quick.
Secret is, get someone like Jamie at Jamsport to set it up for you and it'll
be the best Ł150 quid you ever spend on it/Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES attempt to turn up the boost yourself because then you can guarantee it will go bang.

Are you sure you have a 3" bore?, I think it most likely you have a 3" backbox and 2.5" bore.

I believe a 3" bore is only required when you are around the 300bhp mark.

I had PJ @ PJ motorsport set mine up and its running 22.5 spike, 20 holding and its fine. Well better than fine, its fucking superb fun! Although in reality I think it only hits about 17 psi in lower gears, and the full boost when the engine is loaded in 4th and 5th. But as said above a good, full size front mount is essential.
