Default Bailey's Venturi Dump valve

Hi,

I've acquired a Venturi dv off e-bay (hmm..), apparently it was running on an RS turbo and is suitable for a S1 or S2.

I've litterally just taken out my current bailey's dv and swapped it with this one, but with this installed it doesn't idle what so ever and just cuts out. I've also got another from a cosworth which I believe is single piston and therefore I wouldn't expect it to work. But this new one I would as I assume all RS Turbo's require a twin piston?

CheeRS.

Agreed, probably not twin piston. Was it off a Fiesta Turbo by any chance?

Well the advert said S1/S2 RS Turbo so I assumed that was an escort, but yes could well have been I guess. Is there an way I can find out just by looking at it?

If it was on a S1/S2 then it should be twin piston.

Look into the opening of the dump valve, are there 2 pistons?

That's what I thought, unless some turbos are single piston? I'll have a look when I get back.

Twin piston is designed for MFI cars because its an air dependent system, a single piston one opens to easy and makes an air leak so the car cuts out.

Sorry for late reply, here's a couple of bad pics, can't really tell whether it's a single or twin.

That was the from the side, looking in the bottom is just black, it's spring loaded and needs to be pushed. Looking at the cosworth one I have as well they look identical, so trying to work out whether the internals are different. Can you actually tell whether it's single or twin just by looking at it?

Nah, obsolutely nothing. I can feel myself about to take it apart though. Wish I knew what a twin one looked like.

A twin piston one has the large black piston, aswell as a very small thin metal piston.

Sounds like yours is a single piston item as i first suggested

Take your favourite 24 lb club hammer and smash it until it's nice and flat.
Your car will thank you for it.
