Manual "Override" Fan Switch
Hi,
I want to fit a manual override switch to my S2 so I can flick the switch on and off for the fan to work manually aswell as it working as normal, I have heard it is easy to do, but I am shit with wires so can anyone who has done this tell me the best way to do it exactly. I have the switch already in place.
Cheers

you ll need to either get a switch rated at more than the current the fan runs at or take the fan wires through a relay and the switch controls the relay coil m8
but if the cooling system / rad is clean , thermostat and fan switch good basically as ford intended you dont need it

Should all S2's have the connector next to the expansion bottle as I don't appear to have one there. the wiring is totally standard. I know my XR3i wiring loom had the connector there though but my S2 one hasn't. Is there a reason for this?

Well, I havent's seen a RHD escort in my life, so I assume it's in the mirror position to the LHD cars. There's also a possibility that it's still taped inside the loom. I faintly remember that someones was.

lol some wierd methods up there mate!
its very simple all you do is connect one wire to the ignition live.
the other wire you just join to the wire going to the igntion switch (cut in half, add junction box and wire the 3 back together).
thats it mate, piece of piss 15 mins max!!!

thats the cheap bodging and dangerous way
run 2 wires from the thermostat sensor to a relay
30 amp supply to the relay
put a switch in between the input and output on the relay
1 wire directly to the fan and the other wire from the fan to earth
safest way of doing it
