How much did you pay for it?
That is usually a good indicator of a shit turbo.
I know of someone (who shall remain nameless) that bought a couple of dodgy turbos from Ebay. The first one turned out to be from a 1970's minibus.
Then he bought another one and that was just as shit. The turbines were badly out of balance along with a few other things, and the place that inspected them both advised the person to not put them on the car as they were very poor quality.
Stick with genuine Garrett stuff and you can't go wrong. All these cheap turbos on Ebay make you laugh, they are so cheap, then when you try and sell a decent turbo (a low mileage T34 .63 with maram shaft, for example ) nobody wants to pay the right amount of money for it.

T34 with Maram shaft? That's GOT to be worth a grand surely??
As for these Ebay turbo's. 'Cheap' is the key word. That's just what they are, and we all know what 'cheap' means.
I have seen these kinds of turbo's with the compressor housing in 2 halves where it has been cast in 2 halves and glued together with normal glue!

You would have thought so, especially a quality one. Oh well, I'll just hang on to it for now then until someone sensible comes along
