my gearbox is about to blow up because it sounds all horrible and scrapey, so im guessing thats the mainshaft bearing about to go bang?
anyway im going to get a CTS bernie box but didnt realise theres you have to wait for him to source gears which could take up to 2 months! (aparently)? anyway img una go a breakers this faternoon and try and get a diesel box 4 the time being.
What diesel box does every1 mate up to the cvh?
or any other good alternatives that will last a month or so?

any 1.6 or diesel gearbox will do if it's just a quick fix until you get your new box. will be horrible without an LSD though and a diesel box is NO stronger than any other box.

Diesel Boxes have slightly uprated bearings, IF they are from a mk5/mk6 Escort.

lol i think its purly because most diesel boxes havant gone over 4k and arnt ragged

mk5/6 escort use the ib5 box

IB5 is fitted only from -95, but that's a good though box too with the larger main shaft bearing. The changes are quite minor actually between the last BC and first IB5 gearboxes.
