Track of course. course it was only a guess. but it was way of the clock and on the redline, so I found what the rst gearbow would do and its around the 160mark, alot of kids changed to the diesal gearbox cos they would do just over 160. I was probly doin 155 ish.

Oranoco has had his S2 timed at 148mph hitting the limiter in 5th which I think on his is somewhere inbetween 6k-6.2k

I had the needle on the h of mph at the bottom of the speedo but was probably only doing about 145mph cos of dodgy ford speedo's.

but surely hitting limiter isnt hitting end of the gearing
surely the folk getting the big speeds have set the limiter higher.
i know the my car is still pulling when it hits limiter and its showing about 138 on speedo but thats with the S1 box.

True it aint, in theory if the engine and box can take the RPM then you can keep reving and going faster till the engine runs out of puff to keep you accelerating.

But, working out the MPH using rev counter, tyre wheel size and ratios is just more accurate than using speedos. A friend of mine has an XR2i that reads 100mph, but he is only doing 3k in 5th which puts him about 70. Fook knows why it reads out by that much.

S1 final drive ratio is higher than the S2's. I fucked the main shaft in my S2 and had a 1800 deisel box fitted as a temp replacement untill I could afford a recon tubby box. Anyhow 6months later and I still go it, why? coz its alot longer gearing, it'll cruise happerly at 100 just under 4k and will pull off the clock. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd are no different its just 4th & 5th. In 5th the turbo doesnt really pull hard under 90 but i love it like that. It has no LSD but its fine 2 drive (unless u act like a nob in the wet) runnin 15psi. Cheers

kicked up a fuss. it probly would have bin doin 130,140,150, like u say dodgy ford speedos, just pointing out that I had it of the clock thats all and I beat the aud. spec wise, 1600cc, series 2, series 1 bored out inlet manifold, ported head, inlarge throttle body, 285t2 cam, NMS chip and tune, excaust, filter, stage two hybrid 15psi, and vernier, and a leaking radiater. were meeting up a junction 30 on the m1, on sat the 11th.

Limiter in 5th in a S2 will JUST allow 150mph with larger wheels (than std)

So unless you running 18's, have over 250bhp and a higher limiter then you ain't doing 158mph fella - sorry

well when i had mine on the rollers the guy told me it was shorter ratio but anyway who cares can still bounce of limter in 5th and its still and bad ban

It is lower. The S2 used higher ratio final drive so that motorway driving was more refined and at lower revs.

Sunny used standard ratios and final drive when he done 178mph with 800 or 900rpm more to go! i think that was at about 7500rpm or there abouts IIRC..will have to get sunny to confirm this...i know his box WAS geared for well over 190mph at 8500rpm which was his redline

also 140mph on a S2 with standard ratios and rims is about 128mph i know someone who got caught with speedo showing 140mph and the gun showed 128

But enyway, lets have a look shall we..... If you take a std RST, give it a chip, -31 actuator, exhaust and filter and 14psi thats pretty much 170bhp.... So, add a stg2 hybrid turbo and head, you can flow a lot more air + more bhp (est round 180-190) so minus a couple of psi and drop that figure to roughly 170-175bhp. I being optimistic went for 175bhp, plus also the fact that a certain chipped Focus ST170 (being 170bhp as std, but now prob about 15bhp up on that due to chip, filter and zorst) that I know the owner rather well of can't sit with me all the way from standstill to 100mph....

Hence my claim of 175bhp....

However your "over" optimistic claim of 158mph is pure bollox - mainly admitted by your good self. Seeing as that you can't read over 140mph on your speedo, and that only cars with well over 250bhp, muchos trick suspension set ups and copious ammounts of boost have only reached 160mph in non-road conditions, how do you make your claim of 158mph stick????????????????

If you actually read what I said rather than living in this dream world you are so obviously in, then you would see that I am not talking about a std ST170 - chip fiter and zorst on one of then gonna give 20+bhp so now your talking about a 190+bhp Focus. So with power to weight in mind (ie him: more power but heavier, and me : less power but lighter) then again it evens out....

Dude when you actually learn something about RS Turbo's other than you can go to MacDonalds in em then come back and try to have a sensible conversation. Untill then you carry on wishing you could reach 158mph
