you got a haynes manual? if so follow the instructions very simple. couple of hours to do.....i would sugest that you buy new track rod ends as well if it doesnt come with them there about £7-9 each.

then needs the tracking doing.

It's easy to do if your handy with the spanners. Best thing to do is take your old rack off and lie it next to you new rack and mark where the track rod ends were on your old rack on the new one then when you put the track rod ends on the new rack the tracking won't be miles out when you have to drive it to the garage to get the tracking done.

This is one question ive never got a feasable answer to......when you fit a new rack how do you get the rack exactly in the middle...........

The tracking on mine is way out and i want to reset the rack and have the tracking done, im pretty sure at the moment i have more lock in one direction that the other.

But in answer to the question, fitting is very simple, its the setting up that will take longer.

Its a common thing on fords, most cars are on a spline so you can centre it that way. The rack may not be in the centre, or you will find the bottom universal joint is splined.

Is that to do with lining it up?

must be to line it up if the bolts go on the bulkhead?

otherwise the brackets on the rack wont hold the bush an the brackets that bolt over it wont hold the bose onto the brackets on the rack if you follow that

to centralise the rack i measured from the shell/chassis to tip if the rack end and made sure it was the same both sides....

then checked when i attached the steering colume again to make sure it was something like it.

theres plenty of room to fine tune it when the tracking is done to centralise the wheel etc....

haveing an offset steering wheel would bug the hell out of me.
