Default black rims?

my mate was telling me the other day that hes going to paint his 5 spoke rims with black hammerite smooth! he recons this will be far cheaper than paying spit&polish to do it!
what do you guys recon is best way to do it and best paint to use?
or is this a good idea? (i have my doubts!)

My old man did some '3i rims in hammerite once, looked quite good as you dont really see brush strokes, the finish isn't even tho!

Pay someone to do it mate or at the least get yourself some decent areosols and have a practice on one to see how it turns out. I paint my own parts now and started out as a novice. Only one way to learn.

If you want to do them yourself ,rub them down and do it with a spray can(make sure you do it where its warm and prep them well)
