Default hiting boost limiter at 4000rpm in forth

fitted my new -31 acuator today, played around abit and finally got it running nicely, took it for a test run and found that in forth it woulnt go past 4000rpm but it would in every other gear, i take it this is the boost limiter kicking in as my ecu is not chipped,

i will lower the boost slightly tomorro and see if it still happens, just wondering if im correct and if any1 else has had this

and please no replys saying take it to a garage, else i woulnt be asking this question

LOL about taking it to a garage!!

Take it to a garage!!! PMSL.

Seriously though, you are almost certainly hitting the 10psi cut. Take half a turn off the actuator and that should sort it.

4th tends to be the gear that loads the car up fully and forces the boost up. It would probably hit it in 5th too, but you would need to be ragging it hard to do that.

Thanks christian, i should be fitting my -31 2moro.

Heres a question for you... I took my actuator hose off the anamal valve and ran it up the road to see if my car was chipped it hit 20 psi before i backed off with no problems doesnt this sound like my cars chipped or will a RS do that if it was not chipped ???

Thats definitely one thing you dont want to be doing, running an actautor without the the correct hose going to it.

im currently running my car without a pipe going to the actuator as i dont have a amal valve or bleed valve, but have boost gauge, i dont take the boost past 14psi ever,
i once floored it and it went upto 20psi, then i changed gear and shat my self as it chattered like fuck!!!!!!!

but am awaiting a amal valve coming,

Personally........i wouldn't drive that. Its VERY easy to snap the shaft on the turbo or just blow the entire engine up...........

davsmith64, at a bare minimum for you i'd run the hose from the actuator to the compressor housing and that'll give you 12psi and wont go above.

Is your car even set up for 14psi? your asking for trouble!!

Anyone know why my cars hitting 11/12psi? standard boost/no bleed valve/-31 (afaik) chipped. . amal valve/piped up correct (if one of the hoses was loose, would that make it overboost?)

I tryed looping from actuator to turbo but then the car wont boost above 6psi then!!

my current spec is,
1600 cvh with .5mm mahles (forged)
EFI Converted (ofab with chip)
beige injectors,
stage 3 Area six big valve head with kent cam and multiangled valve seats
port and polished with matched manifolds
magnex full system
cossie t3 turbo ( .48 housing )
pro alloy cooler

Your better off running 6 psi mate, seriously, as slow and tedious to drive as it may be, it will be less tedious than an engine rebuild!

I know which i would rather do. And you don't even know how high you can boost without running lean. VERY risky ground IMO

Would be the safe option.

You don't HAVE to have the amal valve though......

deffo get it to someone who knows what their doing unless you want to re-build it!!!

it's not a case of if the car needs it, its a case of the car DOES need it

Presumably you mean the set up and not the AMAL?

yeah i know whay i am doing and i deffo know the big risk to it also!!
as they way its setup the turbo is getting unlimited boost but on limited fuel, which will cause the car to run very lean on high boost,
i deffo know it needs to go for a setup for certain..
but what i am pointing out it that i very rarly put the foot down, i know its stupid rigging it up the way it is.. but as i say i have ordered a amal valve for it and when that comes i will be putting it on!!
i dont even think the car has done above 70..

i run it in with the waste gate open i.e no boost, then rigged it this way after about 2000miles, also the engine is for sale soon

lol, any1 wana buy it?

Yea but what i mean is, that button should only intervene the starter solenoid wire. So where are the wires connected to?
