You can keep the dizzy, and trigger the ecu off that. If you do get rid of it, you will need another way to detect engine speed.

so I would need some type of trigger wheel like used in an efi conversion? I just thought it would be best o do coil pack because its more reliable and you get a stronger spark.

Yes and Yes

You have to check what kind of input the Gotech will take. Either Hall effect, optical, or Variable Reluctance. The Hall and Optical give a similar output, but the VR needs conditioning circuitry. The ECU will probably have provison for all these built in, but it's best to check.

The Fiesta and Sierra 1800 use VR sensors.

You can actually use the std dizzy for the pickup, and not use it as a Distributor - ie the coilpacks/edis module provides the spark. You'd have to mount the coilpacks elsewhere, but that's no prob.

Nice soloution.

So you have a dizzy bolted to the head and a coil pack mounted somewhere else with the leads on the coil pack.

I bet that would look a treat

Exactly the same as a cossie setup when using coil packs....

It's an option.

the gotech pro uses coilpacks but you need the 36:1 pickup from the fly wheel like on the xr3i efi eec4?. The gotechpro requires a crank angle reference point

coil packs make approximately 50% stronger spark which is useful at higher boost levels
