Default RST Fuel hose queery

Plastic fuel hose on an S1 from pump - accumulator

Mine snapped off, so I replaced with a rubber one

original ones inside diameter looks allot bigger, well 2-3mm bigger

My question is, will this affect fuel pressure, under load acceleration. . would i be better upgrading so the inside diameter was the same size or will this cause no problems being smaller?

cheers.

Have the hose as big as you can without it being a sloppy fit and/or leaking.

You will be able to use slightly bigger internal diameter hose than that.

One tip though, cut all the plasitc hose off and use rubber from one connection to the other, its very hard to clamp rubber pipe to the plastic ones and not have it leak SHORT of squashing the plastic and therefore causing a restriction. I had to replace the very same hose on a friends series 1

Thinking of getting these, will need to ask mike R if he can do em cheaper!

also need to find out what inside diameter is, if it's just the same then probably not worth it,

Thing is, the car's overboostin by about 4-5psi set up std 7psi, so when you boot it, it doesnt like it. . brrr pop bang etc. . (unless you let the boost build up a bit slower than jus flooring it) but it's chipped so no boost cut or anything at 11-10psi, but if it's underfueling it might? or if that fuel hose is restricting it enough to make it do that? or my shitty plug leads need renewed. . so could be a couple of things so jus gonna eliminate them (whilst obviously working out why it over boosts (think I know why so no worry their)

Or it could your dizzy is fucked just like every other RS

The internal diameter is about 7mm, outside diameter is 8mm.

I'd just use normal hose mate, those braided hoses are very nice but they will put the rest of the hoses to shame then! And they ain't exactly cheap

If you cut the plastic off the end pieces, rubber pipe clamps onto the fittings perfectly

Dizzy is cool, was fine before it started overboosting, went like a dream

Ive only clamped it onto plastic hose at the accumulator end, banjo end the hose is clamed to the banjo itself.

would like to braid all hoses, gotta start somewhere

The pressure will be ok but the actual flow will be reduced.

Depends if it restricts flow enough to cause a problem on hard boost at peak volumetric efficiency...

It might run lean.

Mike Rainbird I think does them, and probably beats prices!

Im sure I saw someone on the RST forum say they can get them for free as they work for a company that does em, but bit cheeky to ask and forgot who it was, they got a red RST im sure if that helps

Kevin's braided hoses are FANTASTIC he's also managed to effect a fitting
to connect to your solid fuel pipe that,-
1, is easy to connect/disconnect-how many of you have managed to disconnect the plastic Ford ones without breaking them or a special
tool?
2,I've tried others from 'others' and they've always leaked.

3,The 'lets see if I can get it cheaper elsewhere' attitude is EXACTLY why FORD WILL NOT ever release another RS Cosworth/'too many either too
tight or just unable/willing to stump up the nescesary'........
I'm paraphrasing a conversation one of my drivers had with Lewis
Bo**h about 18 months ago!

Well I sent the guy on ebay a message, "how much for just the hose from the pump-accumulator" bearing in mind it's £35 delivered for the two

reply: £25 delivered.

I was expecting say £20 - £15 for the hose (half price) and maximum £5 delivery

Suppose it's either I get that or rubber stuff. . prob jus get rubber, I like the feel of it

Thing with the hose and jubilee clip route is....,-
Almost invariably when you switch off the negative vacume will (it always
finds a way) suck air in which of course leads to a lot of those entertaing 'my
car won't/is difficult to start' moments/threads.

I'll be fucked if i know..............sounds like the "turn off negative vacuum" is greater than the pressure the pump produces.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.................ok then

looks as tho the genius' know more than me and Ford/the non return valve on the pump serves a purpose does it not? But if the plastic pipe is lashed up with bits of rubber pipe and jubilee clips air is bound to ingress hence the above...

Indeed.

If the pressure the pump creates can't make the pipe connections leak petrol, theres no way the "negative vacuum" will let air ingress.

The one way valve is stop the fuel system losing pressure, which is especially important for K & KE jetronic, being as the injectors are pressure operated.
