Default E.F.I CONVERSION?

What,s better/advantages to using FIESTA OR COSWORTH MANAGEMENT.I know on COSSIE MANAGEMENT you keep the dizzy, but not sure about loom.Am basicallly looking for the EASIEST or CHEAPEST and MOST EFFECTIVE WAY of getting rid of M.F.I. Have heard of people converting from anywhere between £400-£1000.Your views or conversion costs PLEASE.

It's well easy. Can be done for peanuts. Buy a Mk4 EFi XR3i and get all the stuff you need from that.

Then get hold of an OFAC/OFAB ecu and map sensor from a fez turbo, an inlet manifold adapter plate and a sierra 1.8CVH CPS sensor and your singing and dancing. Then break the rest of the 3i and recover your costs.

They'd all work just fine mate.

All EFi heads are the same, Fiesta Turbo or not.

O.K you say it is easy,so hope you can explain a few points.

1.How much loom do i swap,is it just the ENGINE LOOM and do i need to take the DASH out?

2.I here you have to MACHINE the crank pulley from a 1.8 sierra. to make it fit.

3.Did you encounter any problems in doing the conversion, modding the wiring plug E.C.T.

I don,t want to start a conversion until i know what,s involved and what to look out for.

CHEERS.

you will need..
efi inlet manifold complete with injectors and injector loom
coil pack
cps sensor and/or trigger wheel depending on your block
xr3i/festa turbo loom
ofab or ofac ecu
fuel and injector relays
adapter plate if u are using a mfi head
efi flywheel.
you will need all the sensors for the loom, i.e map sensor, tps, iat etc..

Are we all agreed that

1.MK4 ESCORT XR3I E.F.I

2.MK3 FIESTA RS TURBO.

3.MK3 FIESTA XR2I

All have EXACTLY the same INLET MANIFOLD,ENGINE LOOM AND COIL PACK....Basically i want to get as much parts as i can from XR2i or xr3i.Are the only FIESTA RS TURBO parts i need..

1.E.C.U.?

mo u will need the matching map sensor for the ecu aswell,, i.e if u get a fiesta ofab ecu u will need an ofab map sensor,,

also if u use a xr2i inlet and sensors u will need to change the act sensor for a frst one as it will give a false reading to the ecu and make the car run incorrectly..

also i dont know if this has been pointed out, if you do use a xr3i loom u will need to make a few changes to it to run the ecu on ofab..

but if u use a OFAC ecu it should just plug in and run the car..
and also u will need a edis4 module and when u do get one make sure u cut pin 2 out as it is not needed..

if u need anymore help give us a shout..

An XR2i will provide EVERYTHING you need except, the ECU, Map sensor and CPS sensor.

And obviously the adapter plate for the inlet.

From the tubro you'll need the ECU and MAP sensor.

This is all. The rest you can get from the 2i, or 3i.

For the info on the CPS sensor you'll have to ask Jano Oddkidd or someone more knowledgeable about that. I'm afraid I use a Fiesta Turbo bottom end. Tom, (TURBO_BOI) did it so you could ask hm too.

You need to use a bit of pipe, which you could get from one of the many exhaust places abuot here, and use the standard hose from the metering head to the turbo. I just jubilee clipped the pipe into the hose, then jubilee clipped the airbox directly onto the bit of pipe. 3 cable ties to stop it flapping and I was away.

You should have seen how I ran it at first

In the end I shifted the battery and put an ERST airbox in it's spot.

different people/companies have different theories to completing this conversion, some are shocking to look at. i followed janos theory on this. i was thinkin bout doin it, so looked on his website and forum and it proved to be more than helpful. im not gona give much away incase theres bits that he dont want people to know about, as u can prob understand. here is pic of my engine. my throttle cable is a normal escort rst item. ive heard a escort mk4 automatic item is better as its alot shorter, but no one could find me one

i must add, i cant recommend this conversion enough. using a cossie 2wd engine loom and then just taping up what wasnt needed from my escort turbo loom, an jus puttin it bundled up behind the heater box. i could have chopped it all off, but didnt wana ruin a perfectly good, never been cut escort turbo loom, incase i ever decided to break the car for spares. another way would be to get a escort mk4 base model engine bay loom to use with the cossie loom, coz this wouldnt have all the ecu wiring etc.

hope im being helpful here and not just rambling on lol
