smokey s1
hi i have a s1 with a smoking problem think its the turbo but not to sure when i am coming up to traffic lights as i am dropping the gears and realeasing the clutch it is smoking and when it first comes on boost it gives out a puff of smoke,
but i have also been told it could be a back pressure problem as when i take my oil cap of when the engine is running it dont make any difference to the engine it carrys on running sweet i have been told that it should drop on idle or cut out and ideas people

does it smoke in the mornings could be stem seals also have you checked the boost pipes to c if their is any oil in them also check the a\f meter where the breather pipe goes could be sucking up from their

you dont now if the turbos were spot on in the first place fella
clean all the boost pipes and inside the a/f meter DO NOT PUSH THE FLAP DOWN clean from the boost pipe entry
check that when you remove the the vacum pipe from the breather that the little bit sticking up from on the inlet is not blocked
try blowing down one of the breather pipes to c if their is any blockage clean the pipe first as you dont want to get oil in your mouth
if all fails try venting to atmosphere (properly with a good breather) as this removes the old breather so it doesnt rely on vacum as much
have you checked the plugs to c if their is any oil on them
or if all fails try a compression test might be the rings but a lot of what i have just said is alot cheaper than a rebuild

also chech the oil return pipe from bottom of turbo, if its blocked it will build up with oil and stay in the turbo, this will cause smoke 'i think'
also if the same pipe is leaking oil, it will also leak crank case presure and will cause prob when ticking over,
hope that makes sence
