Default Mounting Front Mounted Intercooler................!!!

Just wondered what your views were when it comes to mounting arrangements for a front mounted intercooler.

Is it better to mount the intercooler pressed up against the rad with the fans mounted directly onto the intercooler, or have the fans mounted onto the rad and have the intercooler sitting in front of the fans and the rad.

Wondered which arrangement would give better overall cooling to both intercooler and rad.

Cheers

Mount the fans on the rad sucking the air through the cooler! Better for water temps yet cooler will still get airflow as the fans suck the sir through it!

yeah you need to mount the fans inbetween the rad and cooler or you might get some overheating issues

Thanks for your views guys, reason 4 posting this thread, is at the moment i have 2 fans fixed to the rad with the intercooler sitting in front.

Lately when i have been gunning it on the motorways, say a 100+, the temps get extremely high, some times the gauge is almost in the red, i could under stand this in traffic, but on the motorway, seems very odd.

Anyway thought it might be the thermostat, the one i had in there was a 82 deg one, to be honest it is a total shitter, even looks poorly made. So i have just brought a new one from Christian, which looks much better, so fingers crossed.

Anyway i was advised the other day that the problem i am having with high temps is because of the way the intercooler and rad has been arranged. Apparently the air hits the intercooler and then will try and escape in any direction it can, so not enough cold air is getting to the rad. I was advised two options to try and improve this, one was to change the arrangement and have the fans fixed to the intercooler with the rad pressed up tight against it, or have the lower section of the 90 spec bumper cut out to allow a little bit more air in, or even cut the whole front out of the bumper, which i don't really want to do at all.

As you can guess i am very confused at the moment as to what direction to go in

was a really old engine tho... but was fine b4 hand... just went like it 1 day.

wierd mate...

dont think its down to ur arrangment to b honest...
