Default fuel computer

ive not had my rs long, so im a bit unsure about this....

what exactly is this fuel computer i keep reading about? ive read its only on 90 spec cars, so mine being an E reg, im assuming i wont have one.

does it fit somewhere on the speedo/rev counter dials? or is it a seperate unit? is it digital? what does it look like? and what does it do?

cheers for the help.

yes mate, it's on ones after 1990, it sits in the same place as a like coin pot that will be on the right hand side of your steering wheel, top right of the dash mate.

Apparantly you can fit um to yours, aslong as you wire um in, i dont fancy it!!

yes it is digital, and there was some1 selling one in the for sale section earlier with a picture if you go hunting.

peice of cake to wire in,just go to a scrap yard, find an orion ghia,xr3i with it in (not 90 spec efi xr3i)remove the instrament cluster, follow the wireing loom that comes out the fuel computer and it will go in to the main harness of the car.its connected in by way ov a yellow multi-plug,your car already has this connection.then just trace all the wiring loom from the fuel computer to all the sensors and remove, you also will have a connection under the back, seat looks the same as a spot light connection.should take about an hour to remove and cost about £50
