Default help 2!!!

I had a prob over weekend of car wouldnt start. I thought it was starter... but its been in garage and it aint.. its a fuel prob. it just doesnt wanna start.
could this be because the CO was turned down for the mot?

or could it be something like the fuel relay? but the pump seems to prime when ignition is switched on.

any ideas on what to check as the garage at work are a truck garage so not used to old cars. lol

cheers guys

Yes, probably everything to do with the fuel being turned down. They are very sensitive, buy you still get her to idle below 3.5% Get someone to crank the car, and u gently press down the metering flap, and see if she starts.

has anyone got any close up photos of the metering head as i seem to have a red cable off the metering head with a loop on the end not connected to anything. could this be part of prob?

I also have a plug which is like a t piece connecter and a brown and black wire coming out of the coil loom not conected to anything and cant see anywhere to connect it too? any ideas? cheers

its hard to see. The multiplug is off the amal valve, which prob isnt used anymore - wont effect the starting thats for sure.

The fuel line - where does it lead to? There should be 3 rings connected to the sides of the metering unit - 2 large, one small. I can only see the one coming from the fuel filter on the pic.

the one with the unconnected ring comes from one of the top 4 outlets?!! They are injector lines.

The red block is the fuel flow sensor for a fuel computer, as Rick is probably typing right now

First things first get rid of that shocking dump valve and see if it starts then.......

to be honest, its really hard to tell, but it might be a fuel flow meter. As long as the metering unit has all the connections on, and the cylinder shaped object has it's three connections on (underneath and to left of metering unit), it should be fine.

U need to crank it and press the metering flap just very slightly to see if she fires or tries to. To test if fuel is going to the injectors, undo one of the 4 top banjo bolts. Press the metering flap, and crank - fuel should piss out.

Everything rick is saying is good advice so far, but if it was me 2 things i would do, is check the flap bobs up and down slightly when cranking (if not you have an air leak) and if it doesn't remove and block off the DV and try again

so if i take it back to a garage and get them to turn it up that will help.

what should it be ideally at idle so that i can get it running to get it down to interpro for a set up?

If i were you mate i'd give it a tiny lil tweak yourself so it runs again and then take it for a very slow and non-boosting drive to interpro, if hes doing random adjustments like that then im fairly sure u can aswell, its just important you drive it sensibly and it will be fine

if ur going to interpro, they'll sort it - u just need it running right. Aim for 3% as a starter. If u like, you can give the CO screw 1/8 a turn clockwise with a 3mm allen key, to richen it, and see if she starts.
