Default Help - Brake problem!!

Just fitted rear disks to my car yesturday and all seemed fine. Until i drove the car. No braking power until way down the pedal.

Not a problem i thought, just bleed the system. Which I have this morning, getting plently of fluid from each caliper with no air bubbles...... but still no braking power till the pedal is at least 2/3 the way down but feels fine when the engine is off. Also pedal does not come back up very quickly!

Any advice would be very much appreciated please

Dan

You may have to unbolt the rear calipers so the bleed niple is at the top. Even though you are getting no air from the rear brakes there may be an air pocket in the caliper cylinder as the bleed nipple is not at the top.

also if you've left the rear weight actuating valves on, then you have to have weight on the rear wheels when bleeding to bleed them properely!

its a pain in the arse!!

aha! my bleed niple faces towards the rear of the car so I need to move the caliper so it faces upwards?

When i bleed the car the rear suspension ares where on axcel stands and so the bias valves where always open so i cant see that being the problem.

Thanks for the ideas guys

nightmare job....

but make sure you get the bleed nipple to the higest point and you won`t believe how much air is trapped!!!

give it a go and hopefully you`ll be sorted...

What are you using to bleed the system? I found an eezibleed pressure kit worked well. And oddly enough over the course of a week my brakes did get better themselves...weird.

Dan,

Remember when I was bleed the system on thursday I showed you that the caliper had to be moved so the nipple was at the top to get all the air out.... .............. I knew there should have been a written exam afterwards to check you were paying attention in class

pmsl steve

Just bleed them again with the calipers on top of the disk and air bubbles came out of both calipers so hopefully thats done the trick. just waiting for the paint to dry before putting the wheels go back on

Fingers crossed!!
