New Engine Spec
Ok, my car is in need of a rebuild basically as it is nearly at the 150k mark something will let go soon!
Im looking into various engine specs, but have not made my mind up on exactly what to go for...
Any thoughts peeps?

Adam if i was you i would do the following
Change from MFI to EFI
Then stage 3 head
kent cam or NMS custom one
Steel rods
Forged/Mahle pistons
Stage 2 Turbo
GRS or new Pace i/c
padal clutch

As i said Adam if u cant build urself get the uner who is gunna build it to spec it all up for ya! they will know what is best!
i mean steel rods & crank r nice but fookin expensiv! & u might not even need em so u would just b waisting cash!

Lewis, I have been in contact with the big tuners off here and am just thinking of what to do. Stell rods, like you say may not be essential, i just want about 200bhp, not a monster like urs!
Cheers for the input

You won't want steel rods and crank etc for 200bhp - I priced some up and the build worked out at over Ł4k! for a 1900 CVH.
Basic spec of mine is
CVH 1740 bore
Accralite forged pistons (Ł25 more each than mahles - which are OE anyway!)
Lightened and balanced
Stage 3 head
Piper 285t2 cam (kent or 285t is propably better though for mild use)
Running 12.5psi, its putting out 187bhp and 183lb/ft torque.
BUT that is with a failing ECU which is retarding the timing also! So with 15-16psi and a sorted ECU I would hope for a true 205-210bhp and around 195-200lb/ft torque. Just some thoughts for you - hope it helps
BTW - with this spec stick to a stage 2 hybrid don't go for the stage 3 hyrbid - it is too big gives tonnes of lag!

Should be straight forward enough, go for a low comp CVH bottom end .5 oversized pistons with them machined to match, prob skim the crank as well if it needs it, then go for a big valve head conversion, ported out, matching inlet, cam to match, stage 2 turbo, chip, uprated intercooler, and u should be able to run 20psi + boost and easily see 200bhp.
You can save money on the head, as u dont need the big valves, i would get it ported, and get some new standard valves and guides if it needs it! As you might as well do everything to it while its in bits... plus ud better put all the usually stuff on cam belt and tensioner, water pump, oil pump etc..
As above u dont really need steel rods if ur aiming for 200bhp, i say steel rods are a must if u want to hit the 260bhp mark on a T34 turbo or something...
as for managment its up to u the EFI is better to map but i like the simplicity of the MFI metering head and a 5th injector!

now when we are aruond the subject
I got a STD 1600 in my RST.. no low comp or anything... im going to fit a GRS, 285t2, venier pulley, -31 actuator, ahmed bayjoo, bailey dump, k&n... what boost can I max run on it, before she blows up... and what could I possible se of BHP??

get it setup by someone, jamsport etc... id say about 14psi of boost on a standard spec engine, depends how worn it is as well... the bores and rings could be worn bad etc.. could be a time bomb waitin to go off!
14psi... thats around 1 bar... aint?? the engine is very sound... I thought a std engine could do around 1-1,2 bar... could u get another head gasket, and the way lower the comp a bit?? just a thought I had??
I from denmark, so I think Jamsport is a bit far

yeah abit far... the lower the comp the more boost... thicker head gasket would work thou it would be a weak point for it to blow! maybe get ur piston heads skimmed 40 thou to lower the comp a bit! then u should see 190bhp maybe 16psi! I wreckon theres a few peeps got around 190 bhp on a standard bottom end thou it just depends how reliable u want it! i wreckon around 190bhp on a standard bottom end is about tops really!
