Default S2 gearbox

My gearbox in my s2 rst is on the way out and ive read somewhere of people using diesel van boxs and altering the mounts. From which mk van do I need the box from and which mounts do i need to alter?

if you do this you will only need the mounts from your original rs box and the bolts, it all fits together ok.

but.. the diesel box is no stronger it just has longer gears, also it has NO limited slip diff,

the best option is to buy a recon rst box with better diff and shaft bearings and if you want the longer gears get a fith gear put in it from a diesel box. stay with the LSD tho...

dave y beat me to it. The diesel box being tougher is an old wives tale. The only plus point is they are cheap.

http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/psgearboxes.html - Ł495, that's minus the VAT I'd guess...it wont be any cheaper as they will be taking your box in exchange...
