Hi all,
I've replaced my exhaust housing for a standard one as it was far too laggy.
When I am on boost sometmes the car pulls great then other times it seems to be holding back and I get like a restricted noise as though I'm hitting the limit of the actuator. When its doing this it doesn't boost over 10 psi then when I back off and put back on it hits 15 psi and pulls great. i'm assuming its most probably the actuator but throught I would get other peoples views on it. The hoses I have on are sfs hoses so that shouldn't be a problem.
Cheers
Dave

No just a bleed valve. I am thinking though could it be bottlenecking at the bleed valve as its only tiny? I am gonna get a working amal valve and see if thats.
How new is the turbo. Its unlikely but there is a chance your wastegate housing could be cracked. When mine went i noticed a lack of boost and it got to the point where i actually took the screw completely out of the bleed valve and it wouldn't boost higher than 10psi peak but dropped down to 6psi higher up the revs.
It was worth a mention but seeing as yours is boosting higher sometimes the actuator seems more likely.

I've just replaced the housing for a smaller one due to it being too laggy but did notice a slight crack on it where the plate covers the hole about 2mm long. I will be getting a good one when I can find one but the one that was one it previous was even worse at least 2 cracks on either side of the hole about 3-4mm long. Can I weld this up and machine it flat?

I would show you the picture of mine but i cant find it. The cracks in mine didnt look like anything significant but they made so much difference. If your waste gate has any kind of crack then its not doing you any favours. I doubt very much whether welding and machining it would last very long, if you can do it yourself you dont have a lot to lose though as its scrap anyway......
I've got a spare turbo in the shed i robbed my housing off and i was going to get another housing, not for £70 though
Quite sought after though i would of thought as its common for them to crack.
