Default really annoying missfire :-(

right, my small turbo escos has developed a really annoying problem... you can drive the car for days on end with no problem and then all of a sudden you give it some welly and it starts miss firing (quite bad) defo sounds like its running on only 3.. if you turn the car off and wait a few minutes and restart the engine it runs fine ! i have put new spark plugs in and also checked all the multiplugs on the inner wing... still no joy.. I am waiting on a pair of coils from ford to try these but i dont think its them..
when the car is running good you can still feel a very small miss fire if you hold the revs at about 2500 rpm..

any help on this would be great..

car is running..
msd chip
-31 actuator
turbo technics hybrid
uprated fuel pump
powertec filter
scorpion zaust

Cancel the ford order now!!

Also unplug the multiplugs and give a good clean the stick a load of grease in them and refit. Long-term you should get all the individual cables soldered together.

i dunno, but i'd have though if it were a coil breaking down, as its a wasted spark twin coil setup, surely 2 cylinders would miss, not just 1...?

those multiplugs are truly mingin btw, i'd get rid asap before they cause u greif and a tow home from teh aa

Matt - if the mutiplugs are in "mint" condition then you have a problem! they should be fully greased up! Water comes through the near-side bonnet vent and runs straight on to them.

I just solved a misfire on my Big Turbo by fitting a new 3bar map sensor. Mine was misfiring on boost espeicially in lower gears and was blackening the Spark plugs with overfueling.
Hope you can get it sorted as its bloody annoying!

Small turbos? Have coil-on plug but with just two coils, for other two cylinders there is short HT lead.

Could be, although I never ever heard about somebody replacing them or anything. They are servicable part on Microcar though and not very expensive so it might be possible to buy those at Fords..
