Default xr4x4 shafts

Any of use guys fitted these, i'm sure i read somewhere that there 10/15mm longer and help with the problem of popping front shafts on lowered cars. My car is lowered on gaz coilovers on 19's and i'm having problems with my front passenger side shaft.

It is only ONE side on the XR which has longer shafts (cant remember which though sorry)


Change your engine mounts, that may be the main art of your prob

BTW you wont have issues with the drivers side, as this is held intothe diff with a circlip

i have got the same problem.. but on the drivers side.. it comes out of the outer cv joint.. also on coilovers and 19" rims..

i use the longer driveshaft on mine o/s , also have quaife slipper diff these don't take a sirclip this is why the rally car's use them,think the xr4x4 use's the same driveshaft on bothside's but i've only herd of the o/s shaft being changed on cossie 4x4, never had any problems with it, as damo v say's i would check e-mount's first, does your shaft's click when your turning a corner, have seen the tri pod bearing's inside the shaft go & left long enough can elongate the inside of the shaf't just a thought

I run them, but have to machine 7mm off both rhs and lhs

i have the thick wall casing,think you can use standard casing, but if you are going to get one i would get the stronger casing, standard one's break

Shafts not realy clicking, feals more like a vibration through the front passenger side wheel, checked the wheel and it isnt buckled, only other thing that i thought it could be was front diff as the car is 380+ bhp. Just thought about the shaft as it happened the week after i fitted the front coilovers and had the alignment set up.
