Hi Tandy
Ive got the same problem as u at the moment...........ur thread has been unreal because it has hopefully given me the answer to fixing it. I have pulled all my gauges out to get a better look at the inverter.....mine seems to still have a firm connection on the blue circuit board. Do u believe that the problem with urs was the inverter being faulty or that it just had a bad connection on the blue circuit board?
Cheers

4 screws, remove clocks sourround, then 4, remove clocks a bit, remove speedo line, unplug multiplugs, remove clocks, a bit tricky with steering wheel but not impossible.

And if you want to work more easy when you have finished to remove the screws then open the bonnet and push the speedo cable.

I forgot about this - this helps, although I don't know what is access to those in RHD car like, in LHD accesing speedo cable is not easy.

Reviving an old thread here.....

I'm in the same position, dash lights are about 90% out, only bit illuminated is the area around the 30mph - 40mph zone.
Occasionally the dash lights come back to life but it doesn't last long.

Anyway, got myself the inverter from RS Components and started taking my dash to bits.
Bit fiddly but got there in the end only to stumble across a wee problem - the speedo cable.

How do you go about disconnecting this?
Is it like a push lock or threaded type connection?
I don't want to be too harsh on the cable and damage the clocks.

Any help would be appreciated.

what is the reason for the loop with the blue wires I have done all this exactly as done in the diagram my gauges light up ok but not very bright except for the speedo which is perfect. When putting the whole thing together again lighting was good untill I connected the speedo and it seemed to soak up all the power they are all working ok but there must'n be enough power goin to the inverter or am I loosing power with that loop as this inverter has 4 pins as opposed to the oe. items 3 pins? please help thanks folks.
