What does a 'LUX' model have that a normal escort cosworth doesnt???

Does it show LUX on the logbook and on an HPi check?

Am I right in thinking that some LUX models had cloth recaros?

Any help or info on this is much appreciated.

There where two versions of the LUX model (three if you include the Monte) which was basically Lux with leather and Lux with cloth, both versions had Recaros

 

Would it show on the logbook as a Lux?

Any idea what the lux had that the others didnt?

sum had electric sun roofs nd air con but not all nd i think it does show on the log book

 

it won't say lux on the log book,if you go into your ford part's department get the guy to put the original reg number into the computer all the details will come up including if it's a lux or not

lux=leather or cloth
heated mirrors
heated screen
door bins with carpet
folding rear seats with head rests
electric sunroof & windows
opening rear 1/4 windows
probably some more thing's

Gaz, it has all the things youve mentioned above including air con and 10 disc in dash cd so it must be a Lux. Its a small turbo in Auralis blue. Cant remember if the sunroof is eletric or manual though. The car is on a private plate so wont know the original reg until I HPi it mate. Im pretty sure its a Lux now though from what you and a few others have said in general discusion.

Electric sunroof was NOT part of the LUX spec, it was an option on earlier cars

as above, mine is a leather lux, without aircon or leccy sun roof,

has opening rear quarters, lecy front windows, heated leccy mirrors, heated front scren and washer jets,

and the log book only says Escort RS Cosworth.

Right but if its a lux does it say it on the Vin plate or any where else on the car Id like to no this My old one was a Lux with leather but it only said Lux on old sales reciepts from previous dealers So i just took it as ait was a lux
And i sold it as a Lux

 

Mine is a LUX without leather (thank GOD!) and air con, also without an elec sunroof.. BUT all the rest.. and NOW has an electric sunroof.. with a rathr bling one off surround

 

If you check in the brochure it clearly states the difference between specs.
I will dig out my bochure later and put all the details up

From what I remember there were 3 models -

Mototsport - No sunroof or any electrics, only available in white ready for rallying!!

Standard - No sunroof, no front fogs, no pop out windows, no heated front screen etc.

Lux - This is what most of the cars you see are, sunroof, velour or leather at option, front fogs, heated front and rear screen, electric windows/mirrors.

All Lux didn't have sunroof. Mine is a 1994 Lux model, with all of the above, but NO sun roof at all. it's probably because it's a French version, and here we need more the air con than the sunroof

So i take it it dosent say Lux any where on the car You can only go by the Spec or when buying parts As it goes when i bought a fan switch for my old one i gave em the number plate and they told me every thing And i remmber saying to them how do you no all that

We are talking RHD, MANY things vary across the river

 

TBH I was always under the impression it was either M/sport OR LUX, ie NO s?roof or WITH S/Roof..

Though I do know they did make fully trimmed roadgoing Motorsport versions

 

there was definately m/sport, standard and lux

the m/sport version didn't and have lecy windows, mirrors, central locking , heated front screen or radio (as a base spec)

the std did have central locking and recaros(leather was an option).

the lux had the full lecy pack with air con as an option and leather was an option....

correct, mine doesnt have a lecky roof, asu correctly, say it was an option and not std until the late St lux models

 

Mine came with one std.. wasnt added as an option AFAIK

 

maybe montes did though, mins an early (oct 92) one my saph which was april 92 did have one though, which i thought was odd, u'd think they'd have done them as std on the lux pack ..?

 

If you go into a ford dealer with the logbook they will bring up the detail against the chassis number on FORD oasis system. they will tell you every thing you want to know. The dealer may require you to even take the car in with you prior to releasing any details. I had to do that to get the cd code as dear henry forgot to stick the sticker in the manual. Ford normally charge a nominal fee for the service.

they can do it with the original reg number too though I didnt have to take the car in...

 

and if u have a copy of microcat, enter the vin number and it tells u the spec of the car as it was built but as is earlier posts this is illegal software unless at a ford main dealer

 

Strange that, mine has electric mirrors, but they aren't heated. The Front screen is though. I thought they would be as my Saff i had, heated the mirrors when the screen was activated.

Ummmmhh.....should they be both or neither....

 

heated mirrors when rear screen turned on... if that doesnt work maybe you have those stick on mirrors?

 

as in replacement mirror glass, or a fuse gone...

the heated front screen jets come on when the heated front screen is on

 

Stick on mirrors?.....maybe they are!!! They do have the Motorists centre scribbed on the back and are held on with rather large lumps of blue-tac
