Default Escort Cosworth Colour Change?

Im thinking of buying an Escort Cosworth. I got it HPI'd and it was originally Blue but was re-sprayed Mallard Green when it was 10 months old. What do you guys think???????

Cheers

do you know why it was done? is it a quality job,inc inside engine bay,was all the bodykit and spoilers removed and done properly etc? seems strange for a full respray on a car of that age, also you will have trouble selling it on in the future for the same reasons your asking now,has it deffo had a respray and not just had the colour changed on the logbook? my jewel violet one was registered from new as red! it would be easy for someone to call mallard a blue as they are only a basic description

I agree with Radman had a metallic dark green car (looked vaugely blue in the sunlight) and that was registered as blue on the log book.!!

Might be worth seeing who else has mallard to see what their log book says ??, just to confirm if it has been painted......

Have you been told for defo it was painted?? Cant honestly see why someone would do this to a 10 month old motor, when they were readily available in main dealers on the forecourt

You will EASILY be able to tell if the car was painted with a colour change, well someone who knows would... where is the car?? What dealer did it go out of when new?

Mine is Mallard, which IS a greeny bluey prupley colour lol, mine does actually state BLUE on the V5... NO colour changes at all I have considered getting it put right but its surprising the amount of people who dont know about these cars ask me "what colour is it mate? Blue?" ROFL

Alternatively the car you are looking at couldve had its ID put onto a nicked green one..... I KNOW mine is straight lol.... only you can decide

I had previously owned a mallard green escos and the logbook said it was green but I think it might have been a mistake and registered as blue but the owner might have contacted the DVLA after 10 months to ask it to be changed to green. It is currently on e-bay item number 4579666858.Have a look and let me know what you's think.Cheers

yes, i actually e-mailed this bloke and told him it was petrol blue, he thought it was Mallard green as it does have a hint of green and you dont see many Petrol blues, so i would go for this mate. but change the wheels in my opinion..... good luck.

Cheers guys. I also might be going to see another Escort Cosworth. I have seen plenty pics of it and it looks nice. Its 100% standard with 73K on the clock. I asked the owner about the oil pressure and he said that when the car is cold it read 4 BAR and when ot has warmed up it reads 3 BAR. Is this OK as the buyers guides all say that when warm they should read around 2 BAR.Cheers, Grant

The HPI maybe wrong! When I bought my Mallard Green Escort Cosworth today I did a HPI and it came up black with a colour change 10 months later to mallard green.. So I had the chassis number put into the Ford computer (oasis or edis can't remember the name) and its original build details where Mallard green so basically it was entered in wrong from new.
