Default To Dump or not?

When clive goes in for her rebuild, do i have the dump valve put back on her or not?


I know loadsa peeps have varying opinions on dump valves!

What do you lot think?

ive always loved them its down 2 personal preferance really, but if your running more boost you should have 1 isnt that how it goes ive got a grp a spec-r 1 but mines only std at the moment

I think if you are running a T34 turbo its ok to run without one
T4 and you must use one
I dont run one and have had no probs at 330 bhp

Mines T34 360 deg, cut back blades etc and no dump valve for me.

Well depends what you prefer, like the above posts say you don't need one unless your running a T4 or so i belive anyway, i did have one but i took it off, it only takes 2 mins to put it back on.
And just out of interest, why is your car called clive, but your reffering to it as "her" if it was a transit maybe i'd understand........

'She' just has issues bless her! i could never think of a decent girliy name that went with cossie! Cos shes definitely a bitch!!!!


I think im gonna leave it down to Brom, whether he puts the dump valve on her or not! I honestly cant seem to make my mind up!

Am I right in saying that you get a nice chatter from the wastegate if you leave them off, do that if thats right, sounds much better IMO HTH

Ive got great wastegate chatter and loud dumpvalve noise.K+N induction kit,-34 actuator and graham goode groupA dump valve.I like it anyway.

oh im so confuzzled!!!


i DO like the chatter sound! but ive been told that the esco cos came with adump valve as standard, and if i dont put one on it can shag the turbo? is this right?

all escos's came with a std recirculating black plastic dump valve most people took em off when fitting cone filters etc yours will be fine whether you have 1 or not dont worry brom will sort it out for you absolutly nowthing 2 worry about

I took mine off for about 6 months and have put it back on again about a week ago just for a change really but i still get chatter out of it and the tiiisssshhhh.

Not having a D/V will do you no damage.Only on big turbos like T4 and above is a D/V any good.

i have always run one.

and will once i buy one for noddy.

but i did run without one for the last week or so the saff was alive, and everytime i heard the chatter, i thought, mmmm is my turbo liking this??????

is it damaging my turbo???
