Who has gone to an escos from a 2wd cossie?

When i first got mine it did fell slow tbh.... But it was running crap 300 bhp chip.
So a quick call to stu and a new chip, more boost 360 BHP thanks very much !
Now its feels fast ...
It mainly because you dont get that surge from the rear like you do in a 2wd cos.

not gonna disagree with what your saying cos you are right.
However I just can't accept what ur saying lol
because its an escort cossie and they are damn sexy.

jesus christ
the escort cosworth was made to rally and a honda integra would get its arse kicked if you took it through a forest or tarmac rally stage, if hondas were so good why didn't they win a world rally championship ?, honda certainly rallied them and i know a team that prepared them for rallying but they won fook all compared to a cozzie.
i have had a escort and a 3dr at the same time and much prefer the escort, its a faster car doing what it was designed for

Thats the thing.........my cossie is batshit fast.......................after a hundred
BUT it was only a matter of time before i got busted at some silly speed. Hoping that the escos will still be fun but just at more sensible speeds. However I am looking into RWD'ing it if not but its all a bit of a at the moment lol
what's a ST version like as a nice useable ROAD car?

i dunno i'm thinking of joining a honda website and moaning about how hondas are shit in rallying compared to escort cosworths.
if you want a nice comfy cozzie get a sierra 4dr and save money, if you want a car that was faster doing what it was born to do which was be grabbed by the scruff of the neck and driven hard around twisting roads get the escort.
if you like the looks of a escort coz and wanna give it large and wheelspin everywhere change it to rwd

I went from a 500bhp Sapphire to a 400bhp Escort. Suffice to say it didn't stay 400bhp for long!
Even though it is now similar power, it is nowhere near as fast as the Sapphire and from 100mph the Sapphire would just romp away, as the aero pack / transmission losses of the Escort have a huge effect on acceleration once three figures have been reached. A 500bhp Sapphire was also MUCH more fun, BUT (and it's a biggy), it was a hooligan's car and it MADE you drive it like a twat and I would imagine if I still had mine, I would have a) been locked up or b) been banned or c) crashed it - oh yeah, I already did that .
However, the Escort is faster point to point (traction), faster on track (traction / braking) and it just feels nicer / more modern to drive (no surprises there).
I would love a Sapphire again, but I know it would bring out the worst in my driving habbits .

I will be keeping from my 3dr
subframe, steering rack, T5, Diff, driveshafts, shocks, hubs, brakes, sump Dan has pointed out that you need the diff hangar, engine arms and 2wd modine and bolt, gearbox mount as well all peanuts really
I am just gonna keep these bits from my 3dr and worst case scenario is i'll just 4x4 it again if i dont like it i guess
Its all bolt on so not that bad, just wonder what the straight line stability/speed will be like with the wrc kit compared to a 3dr with a 500 kit

Such a pessimist chip. Removing the 4x4 gear will get rid of a lot of wieght, and the shell is a lot stiffer so should be nicer to drive. I came very close to RWD'ing mine, but didn't want to loose the value in the car. I have spent £5k in transmission instead ... We will see, still might rear drive it if I get bored.

ive just changed from a saph to a escort i know what you mean!! im starting to miss scarying the living daylights out of anyone who got it too my saph! the escorts abit of a fast mondeo!! I'm not going to let my self even look at the 2wd parts, cos when you do it too late!!! ££££ spent again and out comes the axle stands!!
If i do get pissed off with it i will sell it for a rs500 or a tvr,
