i went down the tvr garage near me last week the bloke said he'd staright swap my escort cos for this cerbra, it looked 100000 worth he said he'll do 2year warrente new mot new tax, the chap reaconed it would leave a cossie for dust as its so light, the stats are impressive!! All i was thinking was no more saturday fiddling!! so tempting

the strangest thing put me off tho.. it was the windscreen it was so small it was tiny and i thought if i was to lose the back end you'd have real trouble controling it with so tight vision of curbs etc... i thought it was quite dangerous, its probly out of a mini!!! also the depressiation is quite bad too

We raced a Cerbera from Lawnsys street, along a long clear straight both come round the bend together and he floored it first momentarily. We sat dead all the way down until the box heat siezed in 4th reading 145 @ 8500rpm on the limiter then he pulled away. Back round the roundabout behind him and both stamped it at the same time and we were all over him but no room to pull out and overtake. Again we got stuck in 4th gear flat out. We got back to the house and the lad was shocked we stayed with him never mind pulled on him a bit, he's spent fortunes getting this and that done and was told it will fuck most things on the road. Except a 20 year old 2wd Sierra on greys with low comp

To make it fair though, you would have to go from say a 330hp saff/3dr to a 380hp escort.

Then the comparison would be closer surely?

I went from a 2wd stage3 saph 353bhp at 20psi to a escort cosworth with 390bhp at 30psi low comp engine with bd14 cams air injectors prepared by a1 rally sport, and i do miss my saph it was blody quick compared to the escort especially above 100mph.

iv got one of each, because i love them both , the 3doors not far of the 600bhp mark and the esc cos has a msd stage 3 , the 3door is a bit special to drive and be in but the esc still brings a smile to my face it looks fantastic , thats y you got to have both

Everyone's comparing the 2wd saffs to escort's and it's not fair
Saff's are family wagons that you can pick up for 3/4 grand, escorts are 10-20 grand.
Whos gona have more cash to make there car go quicker? The geezer with a saff.unless you really are minted

We we're dissapointed when we went from our 2wd Saph to an Escos.
The Escos just seemed so civilised compared to the Saph. Wasn't nearly as much fun.
We were never going to sell our Saph though so we now have both and love them for different reasons.

i went from my e30 325 to a 380 bhp escos. the straight line speed was(and still is) fantastic but i never really took to the way it corners, very under sterry, nose heavy and a bit dead. the well set up 325 was honestly a better handling car.
since then ive realised i way prefer the handling of rwd cars and have converted the escort to rwd. i,ve only driven it for a few hours since because the small 7 inch diff was literaly blown in half with the power. i was afraid before hand that it would be a pointless wheel spinning monster with no type of accelarating grip, but its not!
if you want the car to grip and go - it will, but also if you want it to spin wheels and drift you can make it do that too just by changing your driving style a little.
and a sidenote about when it is spinning wheels and fishtailing, its the smoothest car ive ever been in doing it. a drifting friend was in the car one day and i spun the wheels in every gear up to third and it was only when he saw all the smoke in the mirror he realised the wheels were spinning!
all in all a good conversion and im happy

Went from a standard saff to a standard escoz. Got bored of the escort fairly fast so its upto 400bhp now. And i still need to go to the power floated car park in work to get the arse out!! As Mike R said the saff is defo more of a hooligan car. Used to love going broad side through roundabouts in it. Used to joke that i'd have to fit wipers on the side windows to see out in the rain!
