Default what tyres for 18" wheels?

hello
I have just bought 18" wheels with 8.5" width et27

Just wondering what tyres can i have on them without that it hit the arches, anyone have any experience with it?
I think i will need 10 mm spacers to get the et down to et17 or so.

225/40 for 8x18
235/40 for 8.5x18

what wheels have you bought?

i would recomend 10mm spacers with that offset.

8.5x18 Rondells are et18 and many run those on 235/40's with no arch issues atall, so you would only be 1mm out which isnt going to cause any issues for you!

225 is fine on 8.5" rims and if you stick to a 225 40 then you wont be too far off the orig rolling radius, you will deffo need spacers though or you wont clear the front shocks, unless you have coil overs?

I tested them on without tyres on and they clear the damper without any spacers, but i guess i will need 10mm spacers to make them clear the arches with 235/40 tyres on. The wheels are Ats Dtc superlight.
They are motorsport wheels like Sim in here has on his.
And it is a Escort Cosworth, username was from when i only had the si
Thanks for replys

225/40 are pretty standard for the rondells that are 8.5J..

Should have no problem at all... just need the spacers to get the right et.

i would of thought the tyre (225) may rub on the shock without a spacer on an et 27 off set

Original is 225/45-16.
To get almost the same you need 225/35-18.
That's the only size in 18" allowed in Belgium.

Ah yes it probly will rub on the shocks, as there is no tyres on them now. I will space them out anyway. Anyone know where a good set of 10mm spacers are?

Bolts arent long enought either so was thinking eibach pro kit.
They only have 15mm tho, would this be too mutch?
Et would then be down to et12 i think if i have understood correctly.

very nice wheels there Speedy G.
