Default driveshaft problem

On the way home from Townley RSOC show , my CV jiont on the offside front driveshaft was very noisy, could feel and hear it getting gradually worse as the journey home wore on,

I need to get it replaced before the AVA rolling road day Sunday, where do I get a CV jiont from and roughly how much, what ones are the best

Any decent motor factors should have one, or local car shop, always a stock item as not unique to the escos.

as said but dont rely on motor factors cv boots been any good, may fix one problem but could start another. also i found that a decent width cable tie is much better than any boot clips.

Thanks Guys

dave ill check that tomorrow, cheers

I got a CV jiont today, eventually, so get it fitted tomorrow

I think the underlying cause is the boots burst, i see grease all over the inside of the wheel and wheelarch, so ill check the rest of them before they get fooooked too

try and get genuine ford boots, like Sean said the others are crap.

one thing too, don't use cable ties as these expand when warm use the steel cable ties you can get.

Probably won't come out your diff as they are secured with a circlip in the diff, so you'll have to drain diff oil and remove the circlip

Quite often the circlips are never re-fitted so your sometimes lucky.

You need a specialist tool called a 'TAC'. He almost pulled the front of my car off getting a driveshaft out lol

Jokes aside, can you not prise it out somehow? Although I'm sure you'll have tried. As far as I know nothings holding it in. Apart from the small circlip as said above..

just do as Jon said.

take the diff plate off and you can see the circlip on the end of the shaft.

don't bother putting it back on as you will have a bit of play with the shaft then, saves it pulling on the bearing and boot, now it will slide in and out instead.

nice new oil in the diff too.
