Hi all, my tailgate is looking a bit of a mess these days and im needin a replacment one. I know its been asked a million times but are escos tailgates the same as normal ones (apart from the spoiler holes) ??

Also any pointers as to where i could get one?

Different item, different pressing, different finis code and no longer available from Ford.

Not the same as a standard tailgate and dont let anybody tell you differently.

 

What ways is it different? I thought it only came with the holes predrilled for the cossie spoilers?

 

Escort cosworth tailgate comes from a different pressing than standard tailgate. Where the top spoiler holes are drilled the box section is pressed flat during manufacture to allow the fixing nuts to sit flush against the panel. Standard tailgate has a box section there so when you drill through and tighten the nuts up the panel gets crushed.
Its quite a small difference to the eye but a crucial difference to the panel.
