Steering wheel Juddering
What would cause the steering to Judda (and feel like the wheels are about to come flying off) when travelling at any speed ove 50MPH with very slight Left or right movement on the steering wheel.
and i get a very orrible klonking noise on the suspesion on the tinyiest of bumps.
(think i went over an ant the other day and swore the strut was gna shoot straight through the bonnet.)
Im running on KONI's which have only covered 12k miles.

It could be a number of things, are all the weights still intact on the wheels from balancing. ?
If they are, jack up the car each front wheel separately and check for play, first holding hands 12 and 6 oclock then 9 and 3. There will be a slight amount of play on the 12-6,thats normal, then do 9-3 this will show any play in the rack or track rods.
Also have you replaced the TCA rubbers on middle and end to Nylon items, worth doing, my Saff suffered badly with this...it cured it.
Having said that, my Esc is wobbling slightly now, as I had a puncture a while ago and it obviously hasn't been balanced well..it was fine before.
Check rack bolts too...mine came loose once.

It could be that the metal mounting cups on the top of the front shocks are breaking up. Escort Cossies are reknowned for this - when I bought mine both were broken very badly and needed to be replaced. When they break the top of the strut can move where it mounts through the suspension turret - the car will wander, shake and crash over bumps in the road. You'll also get a nasty knocking noise when you turn, accellerate or brake.
You can inspect them by taking the top nut off the strut whilist it is still on the car. If you then lift of the top metal cup and look through the hole you'll be able to see if the one underneath is broken. If it has you'll have to take the whole strut off and replace the cup, and you'll need some spring compressors for this.
I've not explained this particularly well but hopefully you'll see what I'm getting at.

Thanks guys.
Shockers are only 2 n half years old. (could they still fuk up in such short time)?
Dont think the TCA's have been changed at all, but when i get my adjustable TCA's ill get some nylon rubbes.
Had new Track Rod end abot 4k miles ago.
Balencing is fine.
Will check the metal mounting cups though.
I have noticed the steering alignment being a bit dodgy even though i keep getting it religned and checked (keep getting told alignment is spot on)

Im fighting this exact problem now with mine. I have changed half shafts, cv joints, center support bearing, front diff, wheel bearings, all new tires.... etc. a whole bunch of things and it has made NO difference. Not even a little bit.
Right now Im suspecting motor mounts though, they are extremely spongy and dry cracked, so I think they are on their way out. In my case the car shakes REALLY bad only when turning left hard. Its perfectly fine turning right, only left. I dont get it. I have had it on the lift countless times checking everything out like tie rods, rack, struts etc. Motor mounts are the only things that look like shit right now, so its my last choice.
ill let you know what I find when I replace them this week.
