Advice on intercooler/rad combo
Hi there,
Looking into upgrading my intercooler/radiator. Have looked at the Radtec and Pro alloy ones but cant really decide which. Would like to know other peoples opinions on the ones that they use.

pro ones seem ok, but Ł400 is OTT IMO , and such a shame i have seen a couple fail recently , i personally feel the radtec ones or the the A+H ones are better value for money as both use a 63mm core too and cheaper ...

Hi
Cheers people for the recommendations
We have a special offer on if you buy the Intercooler and Rad package, you also get the option of a 60mm intercooler because the Rad has different mounting brackets.
If you let me know if you want a 60mm (if you get the Rad at the same time) or 50mm core for just the cooler, also big/small turbo and if youhave air con and I will give you a price.
There are pictures on my website - www.RapidFord.co.uk.
Either Pm me or post here and I'll let you know.
Cheers

I have always used pro alloy. In total s have had 3 inter coolers and 2 rads from them. Not had a problem with any of then. Superb fit. And the customer service is 2nd to none. Even when i put a hole in my rad my self. Pro fixed is free of charge and only asked for shipping fee. Where as upon fitting my mates rad tec 500 cooler. A weld had been missed of and was leaking air :-(

I've just spoken to keith@Radtec and have been told they pressure test each product before it leaves their premises and IF there was a problem like that they would collect fix and redeliver it at their cost.
I must have sold 80+ RS500 coolers and 100 RST coolers and never had a report of this problem.
and besides I've heard that at least 3 Pro Alloy customers have had problems with their coolers recently AND a user on here who has got a cooler publicly said if they had the choice again would buy Radtec due to act temps.
Cheers

On the small turbo version with air con what is the intercooler size like in comparison to the original?
With the ECU/turbo upgrade that Stu at MSD has in the pipe line I think a few of us might be looking to upgrade to something better than standard

The Intercooler is the same size as the normal RS500 that fits on the other cosworth models but has a 50mm core (saffs and 3drs have a 60mm core) cars with aircon need a complete kit which includes the cooler, rad and twin fans.
The radiator is a slimmer version which has more fins per inch than the std rad, the reason for this is if you fit a std rad with the RS500 intercooler the fans it will rub on the pullys as the aircon rad moves the intercooler backwards slightly.
Any more questions please ask.
Cheers
