Default Map Sensor

I have been told today that I need a new map sensor, I am unsure on the different types as I have seen ones that are 2 bar and 3 bar. Can anyone explain and when should the different ones be used?

for info my car has been chipped

Well depends what chip you have im sure the large turbo runs a 2.5 bar standard may be 2 bar but the small turbo is a different one altogether. You only need three bar on dark greens or above.

standard cars use 2 bar map sensors, chipped cars on green injectors use a 3 bar map.

what power is yours running.

better to have a look at your old map sensor to see what one it is.

Dave, im pretty convinced the escort cossies are 2.5bar standard, 2 bar was the 3dr cossies and saphs etc.

Kelv, yes i think you are right.

As Dave said,

dont the late cars run different management...do they have map sensors.

different to the big turbo management so a 2.5 or 3 bar will be of no use.

Yes you can do it to a small turbo. The advantages on a small turbo is that you will have a fully mappable engine management system, therefore being able to alter fuel and ignition settings etc.

When you want to change from small turbo to big turbo, for power improvements.....you need the weber marelli management and all the relevent bits to go with it.

there are other management systes around but i'm not clued up on these.
