Can anyone recommmend a decent tyre in a 225/45/16 size to suit a standard rim? Something readily available, because I've got to be able to find them here in Australia.

 

I use Goodyear F1's. I find it a nice all round tyre.

i live in australia and i also have an escort cosworth with standard wheels, and suspension hight, i have put 225/50/16 goodyear tyres on mine and they work ok ,they are ok for now till i get my 8.5 inch by 19, BLING wheels and tyres.

 

I fitted continental sport contacts on mine for the ring trip and they were fantastic

Currently have an old set of Yokohama A008's in 225/50/16,mounted on 8 inch Simmons rims off my old late model Mustang, but they are about 7/8ths of an inch bigger in diameter. I think that amount will throw the speedo out too much. The cops only give a 3% tolerance on speed with their speed cameras, so I've got bugger all lee way without getting booked.
Will try to locate the Goodyear F1's. Not sure if Continentals are sold locally.
