Default eeciv4 to p8 conversion

hello

just wondering if there is possible to get a conversion plug so that i could fit p8 ecu to my eeciv4 engine loom. This is if the p8 have been converted to run coilpacks that i already have in the eeciv4.

thanks

dont think so mate, as the sensors are different and the number of wires is different,

you would need to have the full loom from a big turbo , or a new one made by Ryan. and it not just as simople as swapping the ecu,s (even if its been converted to run coilpacks) you would need to swap over all the small turbo sensors for the large turbo equivilents, there are thigs like crank sensors, phase sensors etc that are completely different between the 2.

I know already.....

Crank sensor - different bkt and plug (36-1 crank pulley?)

Phase sensor - Does away with the dizzy (You can use this though)

Idle valve - same type ish/plug?

Coolant temp sensor - ??

ACT sensor - ??

water temp sensor - ??

Knock sensor - ??

MAP sensor - ??

I always wondered why small to big turbo conversions are quoted as being really expensive...

Ecu, Loom, few sensors, 2nd hand T34 - job done!! ?

Grand at the most!!

P8s fetch £350 .

Add up the cost of all new sensors.

A new loom etc and that comes to WELL over £1k without a second hand turbo .

Don't forget new leads, coilpack etc etc .

there's no reason why a P8 can't use a 36-1 crank pulley pattern instead of the 4 lugs. as long as the sensor is compatible with the ecu, the code in the p8 eprom could be rewritten to understand the 36-1 pattern

Ecu can be bought roughly 150pounds. I have sold a few.
The P8 is used on Ducati 916 strada,916sp.996sps. Unscrew the amplifiers of the side and change chip and I think you should be away.

that particular one ISN'T a P8 though, P8's are IAW 048-P8, maybe the earlier 916's had them on,

Default ECU

The ecu in the picture in not the correct one. The one in the picture is a Magnetti Marrelli 1.6M from a ducati 748/916/996.

I stated 916strada,916sp,999sps,916,955,996 corse(excluding 996rs) this is the P8 one.

The P8 is square shaped not rectangular. Both side covers can be unscrewed and on the bike they have amplifiers screwed either side which you will need to remove.

The P8 is also larger than the 1.6m ecu.

It is correct that intergrale and ferrari etc use the ecu.

Some of the fuel injected Aprillias also use the P8, and Ahmed and Stu both offer chips for these bikes... .

so basically to cut a long story short you have to go through a management/turbo change that WILL cost at least 2k maybe 3-4k depending on power/turbo/clutch/inj....

my change in total will have cost about 3k ish by the time everything is done really depends what you want out of the car.....

Would a conversion to Autronic ecu be better?
Mondern ecu
Warranty
Compatibility to existing sensors etc.
Autotune seems great idea.

Just a thought! any views guys?

Another option is motec.
Epicycle do a connection that plugs straight into original P8 plug on main loom and straight into motec unit M4 model, so no hacking on the loom.

Not directly aimed at cars but I can't see why it can't be used.
