seems as thou im in the market for some new rims, please post up the pics of your escoies on it current wheels, please post sizes as well. also what is the ideal size for the escos, fills the arches nicely, allows break upgrades and doesnt effect the handling adversly.

Chazz My new Mo's are a 9x18 with ET15 im running 245/40/18 since thats what was on them when i got the wheels, but 245/35/18 might be another option.

 

The pic of my car with the black wheels came out real bad they looked alot better on the car.

Do you have any problem with rubbing on the front arches at all with 9 x 18 ET15?

 

mike you should know, will i have a rubbing prob with 8x18 ET30 comodoras i think their called or is is this spec about right?

well that was lucky i was about to go and buy these as this guy told me this:

These are perfect for an Escort Cossie as they came from the WRC Escort before they started using Compomotive for they alloys.
They are Grp A fitment thou so you will either need to replace your studs with longer items about a £1 each or use Grp A Wheel Nut adapters which you can get from A1 Rally, other than that they just bolt straight on.
Since you are only in Sutton Coldfield you can pop down to mine and try them on as I have a set of Wheel nut adapters but they are aren't for sale as I use them on my MO's

They would fit straight on ONLY if you had coilovers, but as the standard ET for the Escort is 25, they would sit 5mm further in than the original 16" wheels, which IMO would look crap. Even if you stick to the standard ET25 with 8 x 18 wheels, the tyres will rub on the spring cups. This is why we moved to ET15. It moves the wheels out far enough to clear the spring cups as well as makes the car look better due to filling out the arches more (the Escort has HUGE ones, so you might as well take advantage ).

All the prices for wheels are on my website. I don't do tyres other than the track day ones, as I could never compete with the prices that the whole-salers (such as www.mytyres.co.uk ) do them for .

I am getting slight rubbing justnow on my drivers side inner arch liner, but have just fitted them and not had a chance yet to adjust my coilovers yet from the settings i had for my 19's. Going to be adjusting them this week so will let you know how it goes. Neil[/b]

 

Do I understand you correct that 9X18" is to wide for standard suspension?? And will only work if i have coilovers??

 

Could you let me know the ride height you have to have to get them to clear please? Ground to top of arch .


Once he has advised us of the above info, I you can see if it would fit with standard suspension. The issue is actually the outer arch at the top, which has a lip that catches wheels that are too wide / low.

 

Couldn't you use a hub centric (?) spacer as I have to with my 19" OZ's
if it's the Cromodoras above they look amazing
but do they do them without centre lock?

 

Personally, I would NEVER run a spacer on a car that was used on track - doesn't matter if you're one of those bufty types that never go over 20mph for fear of stone chips though .
