I apologise if this topic is repetitive but I after searching I couldnt find an answer.
I just bought a 1992 (big turbo) Escort Cossie and a Ford dealer here is currently carrying out a comprehensive service on the car to correct a few things but even after connecting the car up to their Diagnostic machine and changing a few sensors that were giving incorrect readings, they still cannot resolve the problem of the car not being able to rev past 4000 rpm.Apparently,a standard car will normally do this only when you are reving the car in Neutral ,but mine does it all the time.
Any ideas what this could be?Do I need to clean/check TPS or TDC sensors.THANKS guys.

My advise would be to take it to a Cosworth specialist in future-I have found Ford lacking in their knowledge of Cosworths.
I used them once years ago and have never gone back-I now use MAD and cant recommend Mark enough

As above, its in limp mode
Crank sensor or wiring loom multiplugs below N/S bonnet vent
cut the multiplugs out and replace with new wire where corroded, job done

Only just got the car back from the dealer and still the same.
Together with a mechanic friend we just inspected PHASE sensor inside the distributor and the gap on this "zero"?In fact it had been touching as there were residues of metal particles in the distrfibutor.
We removed the distributor and immediately noticed that it has excessive horizintal slack so no wonder it was touching the Phase sensor.
I have to get a new distributor and I got a price of 200GBP from www.atmsport.com.
Has any one heard of these guys or know of where I can get a new distributor from(not from FORD,thank you as they cost here
430 GBP!).GGR also sell a new one for 300 GBP!

Thanks for the speedy reply and the feedback, Dave.
I am just trying to find out what is a fair price for a new distributor
Apparently ATM value a water bottle more than a distributor!

Seeing that youre going to shell out all that money for a new distributor, why not take the opportunity now and upgrade to a coilpack conversion. You will want to do it in the future.
