Default Problems with Bonnet release under steering wheel

The little orange release lever-mine has always been tough to pull but today it seems to have given up the ghost it seems to be working too hard and I think this is why its broken-it's gone a bit weak and now flexes too much to open the bonnet.
It is just possible to open the bonnet now but you have to hold the cable with one finger whilst pulling like a bastard on the handle cos it's gone flexy.
What do I need-a new cable, a new release handle, both or a Mitsubishi Evo

cheers

You need all of the above...

Seriously though, you only need new wire, which is a bit of a pain to fit... As long as you can still open it the lever itself is still ok

I had to change both lever and wire on mine, not very expensive parts though

While you're at it, add a bit of grease etc. to the bonnett release as well

If its hard to pull its got to be the cable though... The lever is just a piece of plastic clipped on...

Got a box full of levers in the garage Ordered 1, got a box with 5! If nobody else has got the number, I'll get it for you next week. Going to Holland tomorrow, back on Wednesday.
Think I've thrown away the plastic bag for the cable

for the time being, release the cable from the orange lever and use a pair of pliers to pull the cable

instead of plyers i have put a ford keyring on mine if you put it on as though you was putting a key on the keyring but then stop half way so it doesnt fall off (it will if you keep going) then it looks ok and works a treat

Had the same trouble. Was surprised to find the cable fairly free so i oiled it anyway, Greased up the bonnet latch and fitted a new orange lever and its perfect now. Don't think the cable would be used enough for it to get freyed.
