Escort Cos - Got a T4 or GT30/35, but want to keep...

...your OE airbox for noise reduction, then here is the cure
.
Obviously the standard airbox is only 65mm intake, which is too small for the 76mm hose required for the T4. However, the entry into the Escort airbox is actually 87mm, but features a glued in plastic reducer.
![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/MikeR/1eab85ec.jpg)
This can be cut off and removed, leaving the full 87mm entry hole.
![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/MikeR/b181d3d4.jpg)
We then do a billet alloy machined intake adapter that pushes in to this and sleeves down to the correct 76mm for the T4.

![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/MikeR/996adc1e.jpg)
![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/MikeR/f42ca3ce.jpg)
This does actually push in fully, but it is a bitch to get out, so I didn’t push it fully home
.
We also do one that allows the fitting of a GT30 / GT35 (100mm) hose to the standard airbox – obviously the entry is reduced to 85mm where it goes into airbox, but it allows the fitting of a proper 100mm hose whilst retaining the OE look and sound reduction
.
Combined with this, is a complete cure for all your T4 on an Escort Cosworth issues

Crap pic but you get the jist of it I think!! Mind you I have the DV spout welded on my intercooler just under the main outlet (TB side) so you can only just see the bit of pipe going back into the airbox lid. Much neater in my opinion.
The hose itself has all been trimmed up now as well

Does the ducting to the standard Escort Cosworth Airbox still work when you install an RS500 spec Intercooler lads?.
I ask this as I'm about to buy an Escort Cosworth and I had the problem with my Sapphire (when I installed the RS500 spec Intercooler on my Sapphire I had to remove the factory ducting that ran from my grill into the airbox so all I was left with was an airbox with a square hole in in right next to the turbo ).
Hence the only reason I put a K&N pod filter on my Sapphire.![Sad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
By the looks of things and the pics you guys have posted it's much better to keep the factory airbox than go to a pod filter right?

Is it not cheaper to buy that stuff in the U.K?
