oldest escort cosworth
sorry if this has been already done, but i did search and nearly 12000 threads came up and nothing i looked at was the same.
first escort Cosworth i ever saw was at Boreham in 1990 at a essex rs owners club show, was a left hand drive rally car that i was told became
H930JHJ,Is this then regarded to be the old number one,i later heard that the car went to ireland for tarmac rallying, anybody else got a h plate escort cosworth?

francois delacour, miki biasion, alex fiorio, and malcom wilson drove that car,and more besides,it was unusual in that the bonnet vents looked like they were stuck on and the ford badge was on the bonnet rather than the grill,it was also the first cosworth in fact any car i ever saw with tiger stripes,my own is a homologation 1992 car

The earlier one I saw here in Portugal was from august of '92.
1992 cossies are rare though, the most we see around here are from '93 and '94. Never saw any '95 or '96 ones here...

oldest escort cos
ford built the escort cosworth to go international rallying,2500 examples needed to be manufactured, dont think that meant sold, just built for the new gpA formula, when this number were made, the car was then homologated for use in international rallying.january 93 the cars were ready for use and monte carlo was the first one,the first cars did some small events prior to 93 i remember mia bardolet wining the cars first rally and that was well before homologation,i read fast ford and when they rekoned the homologation cars were the one's to have,i think yes and no,i love my car but would sell it to get H930JHJ if that is the first one officially made

early 93
probably all early 93 escort cos are homologation, ford go by build date rather than registration date,i'm with you Lowman .
it would be nice to have the first one or the last of the 2500,ford usually keep back last of the production line for museam, but i doubt they did as the car was still intended for production.

Anyone got pics of that water injection system, so that I know what to look for?

The homo cars had a small pump under the rear seat and a hole in the N/S of intercooler (blanked) for a water jet (aswell as the afore mentioned bag)
BUT alot of non homo cars had the water hole in the cooler

Mine's an August 1992 build Esc Cos.
Didn't have the water bag but did have the hole in the intercooler and the piping next to it.
Think someone removed my pump and bag.

Our old escos was built in december '91 if I remember correctly.
Also had an extra little plate with "nr 10 Karmann" under the hood.
Maybe not the oldest, but it could be one of the very first....
