Default prototype 6x9 in std rear shelf speaker bracket

got a few pics here of the bracket i had made up just the first ones still need to iron out a few probs but they look pretty sweet ...

basically you use the std screws to bolt the speaker grill and bracket in there then the studs on the back of the bracket house the speaker and bolt up

the only probs i foud are that atm the top bolts need to be removed and the studs welded on as they foul the std grill, and also there is too much gap between the speaker and bracket so the studs need to be shortened then some draft excluders can be added to fasten the bracket to the speaker

few pics sorry they came out bad

will post more when they are finished

modified it today got some counter sunk screws for the tops of the brackets

decided to keep the studs as they were and all i did was add some foam around the edges of the 6x9 alloy bracket i had made then i simply bolted up the bracket to the old fittings using the std screws then bolted the 6x9 up too the alloy bracket and hey presto

they fit perfect totally solid were a slight pain to screw up the speaker as i did the foam too tall really but work great

so there you go 6x9's can be fitted in std places take a good bracket but can be done, the mdf i used b4 was useless this is a great fit...

unfortunally they weren't cheap as the studs had to be machined smaller cost me around Ł20-30 for the pair with all the bits then i had to drill the holes basically anyone can do it....

i can tell you all how to do it or maybe try and makeup a better version thats easier to fit

i may try making some out of steel or even just get my mate to make the alloy bracket then change the speaker mounting design, as the tapped studs are a bit difficult they have to be soo perfect... they work on mine anyway i will get another pair of brackets made up then redesign the speaker mounting

*EDIT*

just thought of a new design that should work real easy so what i shall do is get some new brackets made up and mod them myself then put them for sale shoule be quite cheap too

I just bought some of these in GRP plastic when I bought my Alpine kit, you can get most fitting kits from good audio stockists.

i have to be honest tho i don't see how plastic can hold the weight of the 6x9 especially if the car is bouncd up and down when driving hard the weight would snap plastic ... really cant see the plastic ones being any good at all.. people make plastic ones to cut costs of manufactor metal costs more...

the ones i made ARE rock solid. each to there own but i know which i'd rather have
